I’m so sorry for your loss! It’s the same way I lost the only cat I’ve owned, he was 6 months ? But it was a different circumstance, the dog that did it was a hunting dog, it was bred to kill. Had the dog just been a “pet” I would probably lean towards euthanasia. It’s extremely odd that it attacked the cat it’s lived with its whole life unprovoked, did they get along or just tolerate each other? Could your cat have been sick? My parents had a dog that never hurt a fly but when it met my brothers dog that had an illness, it killed it after a couple of days together even though they got along. I would just give it some time, don’t make any decisions based on emotions & then you really need to talk to your husband about it.
