She might have been looking for an excuse to end things and found one by invading your privacy. To be honest your behavior was gross but it wouldn't be a deal breaker for most couples that have the long term strong relationship you desribed. Yeah, it would warrant several conversations and changed behavior on your part but her actions seem pretty extreme to me.
