this is horrible and sad. My brother-in-law is in the same situation. Schizoaffective disorder. Heβs 100% disabled.
he is now in his 30s. Lives with mother in a horrible apartment. They have no money. Unfortunately, in the United States there is almost nothing available. Heβs likely to end up homeless. I wish you guys luck
Sounds like you are doing all you can, just being there for her when she needs. Obviously it's very hot to understand and relate since you are in a very different situation, but you still went to see her and give her company, and I think that's wonderful. Maybe she needs a bit of therapy to be able to deal with her fears and emotions better, I can imagine it spiraling out if she keeps hiding herself and the baby at home all the time.
But back to your original question, maybe you could have 1 on 1 conversation with her about how her constant 'joking' about others having a baby is uncomfortable and could be hurting friends who are struggling or can't have one and ask her if she is doing alright herself. She will probably say she is 'fine', but maybe she will open up a little bit?
Sorry for a wall of text, got carried away, I just hope it all works out in the best way possible
