But in all seriousness, my family is a similar story. Wife sacrificed incredible legal career just as it was going to really take off (she had a prominent public position) in order to have kids, and then homeschool.
This decision (1) set me up with incredible support for my career, which has gone farther than we both ever imagined and put us very high up the chart in our 30's, and (2) provided us with the joys and benefits of homeschooling and a much more flexible lifestyle. And our children are flourishing and happy. We both would rather have that, even if I”m leaving $1 million+ on the table a year from her not working. We could have gone that route 10-14 years ago, but then, why even have children if you don't raise them? Both parents can't work until 9pm at night (our careers are demanding, but still highly flexible).
