No you didn't mess up. This type of information should be shared with partners, when you are ready to share.
But it seems imo that he was just overall not ready for a relationship. He had basically a breakdown over work stress while on a vacation leading him to be frantic and eventually crying. It could also be that once you mentioned your past trauma, he didn't feel he could be supportive in the way that you need. Just from that brief bit you mentioned it seems he has some form of high anxiety at minimum.
I don't think your past abuse history was a factor in itself. I think what it might have done is brought up other worries in his mind. His mind is already the racing type and he probably overthought the situation to death. Probably for the best that you didn't end up with him.
I was going to make a joke about op sleeping on the couch after also.
I can get you. I don't really enjoy physical games tho. Different kind of nerd lol i like video games and chess. And adore board games.
Just atleast the dude isn't hurting anyone and even if his hobby was having a fifa tournament once a week they would literally bet on this shit. (my husband had one of those when we were dating)
So to each their own. I think his gf is unreasonable. Even if he loved soccer or rugby and played with friends once a week she still is kinda douche for wanting him to just quit it because she doesn't like it.

Uh, why does he have veto power over your personal decisions?
Iām missing something.
You should call his mother and ask her if she thinks it's appropriate behavior.
At 2 years, I think this is just who he is.
