  1. So, quick thought: My bf (fiancé) is 29, I’m 25.

It’s already a decent enough sized age gap at our ages. We fall under different generational groups, we have different opinions on friends and social medias, and we’re at different places in life. He is a senior at his job and is working on complex, managerial projects; I’m still getting a real hold of my career. Even as two like minded professionals in our 20s, those 4 years are definitely apparent.

We make it work just fine, but at 25, I would never, ever, EVER consider a larger age gap. I know for a fact that my bf was already hesitant to date me at 4 years younger; he would never consider anyone younger as dating potential. He sees my 19 year old sister as his own little sister. Any rational mid-20s man sees a 19 year old as a kid. That fact that your dude is 27 dating you is a huge red flag at your age. Frankly, I love the youth, but I would not romantically touch a 19 year old with a 10 foot pole at 25. There’s just so much growing up that occurs between 19 and 27… even if you’re “mature” for 19, you’re still 19. No 27 year old is going after teens unless they are immature, abusive, or “can’t find a woman their age” (which is code for one of the above options).

There is never a case where a 27 year old genuinely sees a 19 year old as an equal partner; he’s either controlling you or sees you as a play thing. I know that’s nude to hear, but I promise it’s true. Would you ever consider dating a 15 year old? That’s only half the age gap you have now…. In 8 years, hopefully you’ll see how much younger 19 year olds seem. Again, any rational, mature 27 year old would never go for a kid a year out of high school.

  2. Like I mentioned, they don't seem to do it around her ever. I've noticed they do it when she's not there, like they'll wait until she's gone then ask me something like “so tell me about your job” and I try to give a broad answer, like one does when asked that question.

I'll tell her after what they said and she seems surprised but doesn't have much else to say; she'll tell me she's sorry they said that but nothing else if I push it more.
