This is really bad advice. One person cannot be your whole support system, that leads to really co-dependent relationships. Maybe she doesn't feel comfortable sharing with her partner. Maybe there's a reason for that. She's been friends with OP for years, that has to mean something. The whole sub is assuming dishonest intentions of a 7-8 year friendship. The people I've been friends with that long, I'd need to see some pretty damning proof before i started to assume dishonest intentions.
The real issue is why does OPs partner feel threatened by it? That's the question that needs an answer here. And for that, OP needs to talk to her and try to understand where the worry is coming from.
