I don’t think there is anything you can do. She has deep seated insecurities, fear of rejection and a lack of self esteem/worth. Insecure people are very self centred. They think everything around them is about them and thus, reacts to everything. She needs to be in therapy. But if she’s anything like my mother, she won’t because she can’t self reflect, because she’s scared to death (I mean that literally) to go poking around at things that may ruin the fragile sense of self she has managed to build over the years. That’s why any perceived threat to that image, like being a bad mother, will be furiously defended. You can’t do anything to change this. You’re an adult now, so you will have to abandon any idealised idea of a mother daughter relationship. You can’t have that. Communication is not two way, it’s her way or no way. Personally, I couldn’t handle it at 19 and cut off my mother in order for me to heal. It was a good decision for me and my mental health is strong.
I get that, I’m trying, truly. It’s not that delegation is impossible but labor is tight and so is staff. I really don’t know how much I can trust my staff due to inexperience or lack of care. Shifting the culture isn’t easy but it will click eventually, I’m sure. I’ll try to see what some extra effort will do for us and try to move forward
