My boyfriend (23-M) is leaving me because I (21-F) don’t have naturally blonde hair

I’m half Mexican and have naturally black hair, but I have been dying it blonde for over

5 years, mainly because I think it compliments me better and I just personally prefer it.

When I started dating my current boyfriend almost 1 year ago I had already been dying

it for 4 years, so I didn’t see a point in telling him that blonde wasn’t my natural hair color.

I was going to tell him eventually, but then he started making odd comments that would

make me insecure like “how do you have blonde hair if you’re not even White?” Which

I pretty much am White, but even if I wasn’t non-White people can have blonde hair too.

These comments made me insecure, and since I didn’t want to lose him I delayed telling him

that my hair wasn’t naturally blonde. Yesterday however, he found out after one of my

childhood friends accidentally mentioned that I started dying my hair my sophomore year of

High school.

He freaked out, started ranting about how I had been “catfishing” him all along and said he’s

breaking up with me for being an “insecure liar”.

I’m completely devastated and I don’t know what to do from here. Do you have any advice

you can offer?
