2. You will have to own up to it all. If you catch yourself lying again, stop yourself right there and say “That's a lie. Here's the truth.”

   I used to have a problem with telling people what I thought they wanted to hear. I was wrong, because the truth always comes out somehow. I used to be dishonest because I thought the truth would make me look bad. Nothing makes me look worse than lying. I used to manipulate people so they would stay with me, but then I felt that nobody would ever love me for who I really was.

   I had to learn how to tell the truth, and own the consequences. It taught me really quickly that I should never do anything I felt I needed to lie about! It also taught me that if I am honest with people, then they can make their own decisions – I was no longer taking hostages, is the way one person explained it to me. If they chose to leave, then it was never going to work out anyway. If they chose to stay, it was because they were able to accept me and my truth.
