I can see many people here disagree with me that you did everything right. My mom sucked at being a mom. I spent a lot of my life, especially as a kid, certain she didn't care about me. Eventually, I did cut her out of my life. It hurt me every single day until we made amends. It's a decision you have to make sometimes, but not before trying everything else.
