Very fair points, and I should clarify that simply wanting regular space or alone time as a method of re-charging is not at all what I had in mind when I said that. So thank you for pushing back on that.
The context here is suddenly wanting/needing some space after about 1.5-2 years of living together. Someone coming out of the blue and saying “I need space”, that they're “lost in his life direction”, and need to “figure things out” kinda screams mid-life crisis or just otherwise trying to create some separation as part of an exit strategy.
