I’m so very sorry. But your daughter is being so unreasonable.
I’m a little older than her, but I’ve got 3 (6, 3 and 10months) and I’ve got 5 nieces and nephews. The older ones (9, 8 and 6) have had a handful of sleepovers with my mum, usually during school holidays, and she’s had our older kids each time my sister and I had a new baby.
I do “nanny day” on my day off, where the kids and i spend time with mum together and she goes to swimming lessons with my sister and her children once a week. We tend to pop round sometimes on the weekend, or have our parents at our respective houses. Mum has also minded some of the kids if my sister and i have medical appointments (either our own or for some of the assorted children).
We all agreed that a regular commitment beyond social visiting wasn’t an arrangement we wanted. I send my littlest ones to nursery and my oldest goes to school. Sometimes mum will offer to have one on one time with my biggest boy during school holidays, so then he doesn’t go to holiday club and they enjoy a day together but it’s on her terms. She did her time, she raised us girls and my brother (while he still lives at home) finally has a job he likes and a social circle so she can do what she wants for a change!
I agree that you need a village, but that only works when the needs of all the villagers are being met.
