1. At the beginning of my marriage, I would sleep on the couch if I was still angry after an argument. When my husband woke up and realized I hadn't come to bed, he would come in and carry me to bed and tell me something like I needed better sleep than the couch would offer or “I can't sleep without you beside me.”

   This probably worked for him because when I was a child, my dad would carry me to bed after falling asleep on the couch, so I found it to be a very caring, sweet thing to do. I can't guarantee it will work for your wife.

   I only ever slept on the couch twice as I'm the type of person who typically forgives and lets go pretty easily, so I'm usually fine by bedtime.

   Just keep trying. You'll work it out eventually.
