Wow. This could help explain my nephew. My brother and SIL are not what I would call hoarders and their places while he was growing up were not dumps… but she was working full time w/ commute on top and he often worked lots of overtime so the house was never really clean or organized. My nephew even before high school displayed being super clean and organized. Example: he was ironing his clothes in high school. No one made him, his mom just didn’t have the time so he did it for himself. Not many guys would iron clothes at that age.
So while the parents were not bad at cleaning, they definitely were not on top of such. Their son went the other direction while my niece copied their lead, average. Not super clean but not super dirty either.
