Ok, does wish other people happy birthday on regualr basis? I have my hidden on social media and do not send happy birthday to anyone really. MAybe he didn't see it on time since he didn;t go on instagram? If anything if you are veryclose he should call you not message. Incidentally how often do you talk with each other being “very close”?
Anyhow if you are “ver close” then call and ask him about in non acusator manner. General message should be that it's not that he had a duty and you are mad, but that you felt sad to not receive it from him since you consider him a close friend.
The problem is, he didn't exactly stop her right away. It happened and afterwards his reaction was woah woah, I have a girlfriend. Like, he seemed genuinely distraught that this had happened, he said it just happened. He did sound genuinely upset with the whole thing though, I've never heard a man cry that much or break down.
