It is counter productive to spend emotional energy wishing someone were different. If one cannot accept their partner as they are and without reservation it would be much better for all to disengage and move on. It isn't a matter of who is right–love is not a contest of wills and relationships that prosper must be based on open, honest and willing reciprocity.
