I wouldn't go so far as to label it as “bad”, but I wouldn't recommend it. There's really no reason to be more than casual acquaintances with women. If you start dating someone, any close female friends you have become a potential source of jealousy and drama for the new girl. Same vain if you're dating a girl that has male friends in her close circle – it just creates problems. Much better to just be close friends with the same sex – in my experience when people follow this they have much better romantic relationships with less bumps in the road.
