I’m sorry that happened to you. If it makes you feel better, I’ve never talked down to my boyfriend. We like to joke that he has an inflated ego now because I compliment him too much. I also give him gifts more often and would help him whenever he needed it. He’s still a guy with pride, you know. We wouldn’t have lasted this long if I didn’t also treat him well. He likes to say I spoil him more. When other guys (friends, even) approach me, I don’t entertain them and put couple pics in my insta to ward them away. I just didn’t think any of this was relevant to the issue.
And, he really isn’t the brightest (I was a top grad at school and he failed several subjects) – he’s slow at getting things and he acknowledges that. I do not think it makes him any LESS of a person. But it does partly explain why he isn’t progressing as fast in his career.
He even told me that HIS need in the relationship is for his partner to be smarter than him – so I guess it’s money for me, brains for him, eh?
