I think you question yourself a bit too much. This is nice and unexpected and it's much more common than you think. I don't think you need to overthink what should be the usual steps in a lasting relationship. As long as you feel good with each other, that you communicate in a mature and healthy way, whatever how it started, it will work. It reminds me of a girl I met when she was working in a shop a long time ago, I just lusted for her and managed to meet her outside of work. It was meant to last no more than a few days, we just had fun but not much in common nor wanting to settle down.
