I want to second your reply here. I think this commenter is speaking from a place wishing to justify their own bias, which is out of alignment with your request/situation.
Software engineers ARE working longer hours than teachers lol. Most teachers literally take two months off a year while school is closed.
I am a software developer and I put myself through school bartending. I can say with 100% confidence that the process to become a good developer is MUCH more difficult and expensive than the process of becoming a good bartender.
That is why they are paid so much more.

Honesty and transparency are generally very desirable, but aren't very helpful in a select few situations. Telling someone “I aborted what might have been your baby 10 years ago when we were just fuck buddies (but I was secretly fucking other dudes since we weren't committed, and one of them could have been the dad), before we each went our separate ways and got married, and then divorced and got back together” is one of those. Generally all for transparency. Especially when it comes to things like cheating, or other real shitty behavior. But this? What possible point did it serve?
