Divorce?
“My wife is unsurprisingly (I mean I don’t blame her) taking her father’s side.”
I do blame her, and I do find automatically taking her dad's side surprising. Is she reacting defensively because she knows her dad is a creep? Unless it's a new dementia thing or something similar, she must have seen indications of his creepy behavior over the course of her life. Immediately running to spill the beans after saying she wouldn't and the rapid escalation to calling your mom drunk and crazy sounds like either a conditioned response from experience, a defensive reaction to help maintain denial so she doesn't have to deal with her dad being a creep, or both.
Divorce may sound extreme, but I don't know that I'd want to stay with someone whose impulse is to dismiss, cover for, and ultimately enable sexual assault.
I'm no expert, but it sounds like she's a gold digger who is trying to generalize that process to people she's not dating.
